Walk for Matteo

Here's something I'll be up to in Kiev this coming weekend:

Matteo is a student at Kiev International School, the "rival" of my school, Pechersk School International (I also attend church with Matteo and his family). Matteo was born 2 months premature, and after his second day of life, had a stroke. He has been living with Cerebral Palsy ever since. Now 12 years old, Matteo dreams of the seemingly impossible: to play with his friends instead of sitting on the sidelines. Amazingly, he has been accepted for a surgery in the USA this summer, from a doctor who has a 100% success rate and has helped a lot of people walk. The catch is this: it will probably take around $80,000 to fund this endeavor, and health insurance won't cover any of it.

On Sunday, 5 June, I will be participating in a 12km walk around Kiev, with lots of other people. Our goal is to raise enough funds to help Matteo's family pay for this surgery.
